The Mill House- A Visual Tour
Nestled in the Maui Tropical Plantation, The Mill House restaurant overlooks farmland and the Waikapū Valley. The breathtaking view is a perfect backdrop to your lunch or dinner.
The landscaping is lush and tropical, perfect for enjoying a stroll while you wait for your table! You will find vibrant flowers, including Hibiscus and Plumeria as well as pineapple fields and bananas.
The grounds resemble an art park, with giant wheels from an old sugar mill standing like sculptures in ponds and waterways surrounding the restaurant.
If these views have not convinced you to add this location to your Maui vacation bucket list, read on…the menu surely will!

The Restaurant
The Mill House is adorned with more sugarcane mill artifacts. The feel is tropical, yet industrial. Everywhere you look, there is something to hold your attention. My favorites were an old sugar cane train and old ship navigational maps from the 18th century of the Hawaiian Islands.
There are two dining areas and a bar area, both open air overlooking the plantation. The seating on the water side of the restaurant had a far better view. Definitely request a table by the water. We had lunch fairly early and it was quite busy (a sign of a good meal to come!).
The Menu
On to the food! The Mill House is a farm to table restaurant and sources its food from Kumu Farm on the Maui Tropical Plantation, as well as 3 other local farms. The cattle are born and raised on Maui! Honoring the local farms, people, and culture comes through in the menu and amazing dishes!
I opted for a prawn pasta dish. It was simple, but oh so delicious! The prawns are caught off the island of Kauai and the vegetables are all locally sourced. It was fresh, hot, and scrumptious.
My husband got a braised beef dish. He knows his cuts of meat and felt it was cooked perfectly and to his liking. The beef is Maui raised! No fresher than that!
The Verdict
I have read some Maui itinerary recommendations recently and some have advised not to bother with the Maui Tropical Plantation. I could not disagree more. It is a perfect few hours in the afternoon for a late lunch, a stroll through the Maui tropical vegetation, and farm to table deliciousness. I would highly recommend!
